Network diplomacy is a specific sub-area of so-called organizational diplomacy. It describes all interactions of in-/formal networks, the exchange of strategies and interests in cooperation, forming partnerships and alliances, etc. In principle, all actors in the international system are eligible for this.

"Relationships are half of life..." - this is particularly true in interregional and international relations as the primary field of action of network diplomacy. The connections between individuals, organizations, companies, associations, etc. are at the center of civil society processes in particular. As that network diplomacy generally relies on open, transparent and collaborative functional and communication principles.

In times of expanding state hegemony and - especially in foreign policy: - autocratic governing, network diplomacy has become significantly more important. Muti-leveled international cooperation for the exchange of ideas and resources is indispensable, especially in the upcoming interdisciplinary and interdependent transition processes at the interregional and transnational inter-connectedness in world order transformation.

The individual, multilaterally organized, private and (semi-) public interlinking of humane and thus sustainable innovation and transformation processes play a central, meaningful and peace-keeping / -finding role, especially in the area of crisis and conflict management. In the sense of this understanding, network diplomacy in principle is a central building block of future societal worlds that are humanely adequate and worthy of living because they are qualitatively re- | connected.
